The first day i got the brief i went down to the library and found a book a book about Lawrence Weiner. At first glance i liked the work, big statements that make you think on the sides of buildings. I liked the font it's big and square looks like you should pay attention to it like a warning sign. When i started reading about the artist it was like talking to the architect from the matrix.
I love the thinking behind his work, making his work so everyone can understand it in a very inobtrusive way. People walking passed hopefully it will make them think of what that statement means on a deeper level than just a weird poetic phrase.
When Weiner creates the statements, he would make a series of sculptures/experiments which would explore a feeling, or emotion or even a political standing. Then he would use materials like concrete and light to see how they interact with each other, to see what they look like in a certain situation and then comes up with a statement which explains it.
